We recommend that you call ahead to check opening times and always make reservations to avoid disappointment.
Coffee and cake
There’s nothing we love more than a day in the great outdoors followed by great coffee and cake. Here are a few of our local cafe favourites….
In Kingussie, enjoy homemade baking from The Sugar Bowl. If you are out and about on a day trip to Newtonmore, the Wild Flour Cafe is a good lunch spot with a lovely secluded garden. In Laggan you will find Laggan Coffee Bothy. Go for a wander in Kincraig and reward yourself with a trip to the locals’ favourite Post Office Cafe.
Evening meals
For relaxed pub grub we recommend Ruthvens’ Kitchen. The McInnes House Hotel also does evening meals. The Cafe Bistro is popular amongst to locals (be sure to book) and The Cross offers fine dining featuring Scottish produce.
In nearby Newtonmore you will find “pub grub” at The Balavil, The Braeriach and The Glen.

takeaway
You are on holiday!
We love the sweet potato fries from Joe’s. There’s also a chinese takeaway in town and if you like curry we recommend Mehmood’s in Newtonmore (where you can also sit in). You’ll find menus in the house to tempt you!
G’s Pizza Box serves fresh pizza Thursday-Saturday. Find him here on facebook. Alvie Forest food truck and Cabin Coffee at Dalraddy are also worth a wee visit.
